Good morning & Happy Monday!
After the amazing sunshine of the past few days I supposed its only fair we get a little rain today. Not to worry, I’ve got just the thing to cheer up your Monday blues. On Tuesday, May 20th from 2:30 – 3:30pm I am hosting a free photography workshop for parents at Inspired Life Health Centre on the Danforth. The workshop is a fun way to sharpen up your ’shooting’ skills for the coming summer months of fabulous park and cottage photo opportunities that are so abundant this time of year. We will be focusing on simple ways to instantly improve your photos with the camera you have and no extra, fancy photo equipment. Each parent is welcome to bring one child as we will have them as our muse!
Everyone attending will receive a FREE 5×7 photograph of their child taken during the workshop by Leigh!
The workshop is FREE but there are only 15 spots so you must register in advance by calling the studio at 416. 536. 9977 or emailing info@tynanstudio.com
Inspired Life Health Centre is located inside Carrot Common at 5-320 Danforth Avenue. There is Green P parking behind the Common.

Happy earth day to you all! Mother Earth really pulled out all the stops today and gave us an AMAZING day to celebrate her. I’m still working through some issues with the winter she served up, but know that I have not been perfect with my eco-living and hence may be in part to blame. In reflecting on the impact we all can have and how doing little things differently can add to massive change I’ve made a list of things I’m going to work on in the next two weeks:
1. Check all the bulbs in the house and switch the old school bulbs to energy efficient LED bulbs.
2. Start using my compost again (which is of course much easier now that the weather is rockin’).
3. Always, always, always bring my reusable shopping bags to the grocery store and maybe even up the style quotient in this department with an ‘Ad Bag’ from Alchemy Goods.
4. Think green when shopping for spring clothes.
If you haven’t had a chance yet to check out this month’s edition of Toronto Life pick up the next time you are at the newstand or Chapters. The entire edition is devoted to the ‘Baby Invasion’ that has hit Toronto. Included in the article is a little blurb about the Andy Wharhol Factory Party that took place at Circa night club about a month ago. Some of the photos I snapped at the party for Rebecca Brown of Bunch Family made it into the piece. It’s my first official set of photos in a very official ‘glossy’ magazine so I’d be lying to say I wasn’t stoked about it. If you haven’t checked out a Bunch Party you should definitely keep an eye out for the next event. Where else can you rock out to The Cure in public with your 2 year old?

Well this month is the big lead up to our Best Mom Search contest and we have had so many amazing entries I can’t wait to read them as they come in. In keeping with the celebration of Mom’s and Motherhood I’ve got some photos to share of the newest Mom I know, my best friend Amy. Amy & Darran became brand new parents last Saturday morning, and I have the honor of meeting little Miss Emily on Monday when she was just eight days old! She is a doll and I’m thrilled to be her ‘Aunty Leigh’!

Hello there Toronto!
I’m fresh off the plane from New York City where I spent the weekend visiting friends and working with a photographer I used to apprentice with (very fun!). I am just going through replying to emails and voicemails and sorting through the next in a series of issues with our Mother’s Day Contest. Just when I thought all the bugs were out it seems we are not smooth sailing just yet. My web guru is on vacation this week, so I’ve got my backup tech support helping to solve the issue so you can all go on and enter the contest. Suffice to say, I LOVE constant contact for emailing newsletters, but their survey service needs a little work.

The most exciting news of the last few days is that my best friend Amy just had a beautiful, healthy baby girl!
I’m over the moon and can’t wait until Friday when I finally get the meet the little lady. A huge congratulations to both the Seiling and Fischer families and to Amy & Darran – the proud parents. This portrait was taken of Amy when she was at 7.5 months.
